The highway infrastructure in our region could soon see a makeover. State and local officials announce Tuesday that millions of dollars in funding have been set aside to revamp Interstate 86 and 390.
The construction will help make it easy for both workers and drivers to co-exist while on the highway.
The Commissioner of New York state Department of Transportation, Matthew Driscoll, says it’s important to remember workers who help make this possible.
“We all know and we should all recognize how hard they work, said Driscoll. “Because think about it. On a day like today when it’s 87 degrees they’re out working in the heat making sure they’re improving our system. And when it’s 20 below in Feb and January they’re out working equally as hard. I just want to pay respect to them.”
The updates to highways are expected to begin this summer.
