Giving time to our nation’s heroes who gave their time to defend our nation


This week, The Department of Veterans Affairs is launching its annual National Salute to Veteran Patients Week across the nation.

The week is to, “pay tribute and express appreciation to Veterans, increase community awareness of the role of the VA medical center, and encourage citizens to visit hospitalized Veterans and to become involved as volunteers,” according to the VA’s website.

Starting Monday, interested participants can join Congressman Tom Reed to hand out Valentine’s Day gifts to Veterans at the Bath VA Medical Center.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Other week-long events at the Bath VA Medical Center include:

  • Monday, February 11 – 6:00 p.m., American Red Cross visit Veterans Community Living Center
  • Wednesday, February 13 – 2:00 p.m., Sock Hop, music by Richard Slack, refreshments served
  • Thursday, February 14 –  2:00 p.m., Valentine’s Day party
  • Friday, February 15 –  2:00 p.m., American Legion Auxiliary Women Veterans Tea
