Glenora Wine Cellars Releases “Chase’s Reserve”

News

Glenora Wine Cellars had a party today for a new red wine they are releasing called “Chase’s Reserve.”

Jeff Pursae is a frequent visitor to the Finger Lakes Wine Region. One year he decided to customize a wine label from Glenora Wine Cellars. He designed the label as a gift for his parents. On it he used a picture of his dog Chase, a Hurricane Katrina rescue. Chase’s label got lots of people asking where they can get a bottle.

“He has a pretty large following on Facebook and people actually have been coming to the winery here asking for his wine and it’s their wine but it just has his little pretty labels on it. But they actually came in to the winery to ask about it, so they approached me back in April about commercially branding his wine which I was thrilled because it’s a little living legacy for him,” Pursae says.

“In fact we’ve had customers come in from all over and say they’re looking for that bottle of wine that has the dog on it he’s a Hurricane Katrina survivor. And we said we’ve got to do a special wine just for Chase,” says Kerry Keller, Chief Operations Officer at Glenora Wine Cellars.

And that’s exactly what they did.

“Chase’s wine or “Chase’s Reserve” limited edition is a semi sweet red wine. It’s a blend of four different types of red grapes has a nice residual sugar of 7.7. So served chilled it’s a nice easy drinking red wine,” Keller says.

Some of the proceeds will even go to The Humane Society of the United States to help other animals across the country.

“We decided because of Chase’s popularity nationally wanted so we wanted to contribute to a national organization,” Keller says.

“Chase lives in Florida, they actually drove all the way up. And so he’s got a lot of fans down in Florida a lot of fans all across the United States so we wanted to give back to the humane society, which gave Chase an opportunity to succeed and thrive,” she says.

Chase’s wine release is a bittersweet moment for his family. He was diagnosed with lymphoma just weeks ago.

“We’re on borrowed time now, we’re hoping he’s going to be around longer than shorter,” Pursae says, “This is fantastic, you know, because like I said it will live on.”
