It’s not a real wedding on Grey’s Anatomy unless something goes wrong.

In April’s case, she spends most of her wedding day trying to wrangle her bridesmaids and make sure her best friend Jackson will attend. But her bridesmaids are a source of much of her stress because of the tension between Meredith and Cristina. Mer is increasingly frustrated that Cristina is getting so much praise over her surgery, even though she doesn’t know how the child survived.

Ultimately, the twisted sisters have a huge drag-out fight in which Cristina says Mer is out of the game because she chose her family over work. In turn, Mer says that because Cris is sleeping with Shane and has turned into such a coldhearted person, she has become the shark they once worshipped back in their first year as interns. “And you became the thing we laughed at,” Cris retorts.

Elsewhere, Bailey is in the hospital apparently avoiding surgery, Alex has a hard time connecting with his father, and the government wants Derek to work on a brain mapping project, but he declines since he’s already busy with his own mapping project with Callie. But Derek may change his mind after he gets a call from the President of the United States.

Callie will soon have troubles of her own since Arizona fears that Callie is driven to work on the brain mapping program because she wants to fix Arizona. Arizona feels as though she’ll never be enough for Callie since losing her leg. Arizona tells April that she initially cheated because someone was attracted to her even knowing she was missing a leg.

But Arizona’s tears are interrupted by Cristina and Meredith ultimately admitting that they are growing apart because they are competing, but that’s exactly what they should be doing. Their happy moment is cut off when April goes bridezilla and yells at her bridesmaids that this is her day.

But it’s Shane who is in real trouble back in the hospital. After Cristina told Shane earlier that he needs to take some time off after he overstepped his boundaries and spoke in her stead during a press conference, he presses on thanks to his ability to doctor his hours on the tablets. When Alex’s father starts to crash, Shane decides to go rogue and attempt a surgery on his own. When Webber arrives to help, Shane admits that he was at fault for Brooks’ death and leaves Alex’s father clinging to life. Hopefully this all means Shane is going to be fired!

The real shocker comes during April’s wedding when Jackson stands up and admits that he still loves April and asks her if she still loves him. Before she can respond, the screen fades to black one last time in 2013. We won’t find out her response until next year!

What did you think of the midseason finale? Should April leave Matthew for Jackson? Hit the comments!

Grey’s Anatomy returns Thursday, Feb. 27 at 9/8c on ABC.
