The Campbell Town Board held a public hearing tonight, Mar. 11, on a zoning change regarding the expansion of the Hakes Landfill in Campbell.
The community members concerns with the expansion of the landfill ranged from the odor the landfill would create along with the effects it would have on the environment.
According to the board, the expansion of the landfill would bring plenty of money to the town of Campbell.
After the board approved the expansion of the 20-acre landfill half of the room cleared as frustrated residents left in disappointment.
According to the town board, the land that the expansion is expected to be happening on has been deemed non-residential, meaning nobody will ever be able to build a home on this land.
