The “Kickoff Party” for the 28th annual Tyrtle Beach fundraiser to benefit area youth programs will be set to the music of local stars Wendy Owens and Jim Anderson.
The benefit will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Mar. 29 at the Bath Country Club.
A popular springtime tradition in Steuben County, the fundraiser has raised more than $700,000 for youth programs in central Steuben in 27 years, including $40,000 raised last year by Campbell-Savona High School Principal Kelley Meade.
The identity of Meade’s successor – guarded in tyrtle-like state secrecy – will be revealed at the “Kickoff Party.” The selected jumper will then prepare for a plunge on Apr. 26 from the chilly banks of “Tyrtle” Beach into the even colder Lake Salubria. Refreshments, prepared by Restaurant 209, will be served by celebrity waiters.
Tickets for the kickoff are $10 and can be purchased in advance.
