High speed chase in Southport ends in foot pursuit

At approximately 11:21 am, on March 6, deputies attempted to stop a 2019 Chevrolet pick-up truck on Clemens Center Parkway in the Town of Southport for several vehicle and traffic violations. 

The driver of the vehicle, Brandon Allwood, 22, of Elmira attempted to flee police after a short vehicle pursuit that ended on Catherine St., in the City of Elmira.

Allwood and his passenger, Gregory L. Brown, 22, fled the vehicle on foot. Both were arrested after a short foot pursuit.

Allwood was charged with unlawful fleeing in the 3rd degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th Degree, along with various reckless driving charges. He was arraigned by the Southport Town Court and was put in the Chemung County Jail with a $1,000 cash / $2,000 property bail.

Brown was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and was issued appearance tickets. He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
