BATH, N.Y. (WETM) – The 150 year old St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church has announced that work has begun on a half million dollar project to repair and replace the roof on its sanctuary.
According to a press release, the roof is leaking and must be replaced this year to prevent serious structural damage.
The church is asking the community to help, inviting local business and individuals to sponsor the project. They have raised $400,000 for the project, but fall short by $100,000. Each roofing square is 100 square feet and costs $1,000.
After the roofing repairs are finished, John says they can start repairing the inside walls where water damage has occurred. He also said the rose window is in need of restoration.
Donors can give by mailing a check to St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church at 122 Liberty St, Bath NY 14810. They are also accepting online donations.
