Horseheads Blue Raiders ace Mikey Limoncelli has been drafted 186th overall in the Major League Baseball Draft by the Seattle Mariners, according to his father and Horseheads Baseball Coach Jeff Limoncelli.
Limoncelli was a first-team all-state pick in Class AA last season and has signed to play for Division I powerhouse Coastal Carolina.
Limoncelli underwent Tommy John surgery in June to repair a tear in his right pitching elbow.
This is not the first time a local product has been drafted by a major league club. Jordan Schwartz, a Hornell High School graduate, was drafted in 2014 by the Oakland Athletics.
That same year Zach Sullivan from East Corning High School went to the Miami Marlins in the 14th round.
Dylan Manwaring, the son of major league catcher Kirt Manwaring, was drafted in 2013 by the Atlanta Braves.
