One of the puppies thrown out of a car window on Friday is steadily recovering.

The Broome County Humane Society said Trooper the beagle pup had a leg amputated due to extensive injuries.

He was moving on three legs on Saturday, although a bit unsteady.  He only moved for a short distance, but is showing determination.

He and his friend Adam were found on Interstate 81 in Whitney Point. The two were treated on the spot after being rescued by a truck driver passing by. The driver pulled over and scooped up the badly injured pup, while the other followed behind.

The dogs were renamed Trooper and Adam, after the state troopers who aided them, and the truck driver who rescued them.

They are not up for adoption yet, but both puppies are doing fine.

The investigation as to why the pups were thrown out is still ongoing.
