Investigation Continues into Assault on Southside

News

Police continue their investigation to an assault on Elmira’s Southside Tuesday night. 

It happened around 8:40 p.m. in the 400 block of Herrick.

Elmira Police confirm to 18 News that a person was knocked unconscious with facial injuries when struggling with a suspect. 

The incident initially began as a burglary that was interrupted. A homeowner found someone in their kitchen and alerted other people home at the time. 

The suspect fled out the back door and was chased by someone from inside. 

An altercation ensued in the roadway between the two. A second suspect emerged from between two houses and kicked the victim in the head. Both suspects fled the area.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

No arrests have been made as of yet and the investigation is ongoing.
