Local and regional food vendors gear up for “Taste of Chemung”

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Carol Houssock, administrator for the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County stopped by 18 News Today to discuss the annual Taste of Chemung.

Taste of Chemung is a fundraiser put on every year by the Cornell Cooperative Extension. The Culinary Program at GST BOCES Bush Campus will be preparing a full meal of appetizers, buffet and desserts for attendees from locally and regionally sourced products. Local businesses and farms will also be on hand to provide tastings of their alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.

The event will take place on Thursday September 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Community Arts of Elmira (413 Lake St, Elmira, NY 14901). Tickets are available for purchase now. You can purchase tickets at the CCE Chemung table at Wisner and East Side Markets or by stopping by the CCE Office located at 425 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suite #107, Elmira.

Ticket cost prior to the event will be $35 per person or $30 if 4 or more tickets are purchased together. All tickets purchased the day of the event will be $40 per person.

Proceeds from this event will go to support the Agriculture, Horticulture, EastSide Market, Energy, Recycling, Natural Resources, Nutrition, 4-H Youth Development, and Poverty Reduction Programs at CCE Chemung.
