Veterans Day is a day set out to pay tribute to those who served in the armed forces and the fallen who have defended the freedoms America stands on.
At the Bath National Cemetery, flowers lie and flags perched along the gravestones of our nation’s heroes.
Loved ones of the fallen visit the serene cemetery to pay respects regularly, however, some believe Veterans Day is the most significant day to do so.
“I think it’s important that we remember our fallen soldiers and our loved ones on a special day like this, and remember the freedoms that they sacrificed for,” Melissa Gerych, who visited her father’s grave, said.
“Today is Veterans Day and it’s also eight months since my husband passed away, and I felt this is the perfect day to come pay my respects,” Sharon Smith, who set a yellow flower on her late husband’s gravestone, said.
It’s the grieving and remembrance of not only loved ones, but for all who sacrifice their lives and freedoms, and continue to, for our own.
