Governor Tom Wolf’s administration has approved more than 100,000 patient certifications to receive medical marijuana.

Since the state legislator passed the medical marijuana authorization and Wolf approved it in April of 2016, more than 131,000 patients in Pennsylvania have registered to participate in the program, and close to 102,000 received their patient certification and are able to purchase medical marijuana.

The department also approved another medical marijuana grower/processor, Pharmaceutical RX, LLC, located in Farrell, Mercer County to be operational. This puts the total number of grower/processors to 13.

Now, with more than 780,000 dispensing events occurring across Pennsylvania, more than 2.2 million products have been sold.

“Realizing 100,000 patient certifications and seeing the first phase II grower and processor operationalized is a testament to the hard work of the Department of Health, the many advocates for this program, and our General Assembly who passed this legislation nearly three years ago,” says Governor Tom Wolf, “It’s progress that is making a difference in the lives of many Pennsylvanians.”
