It’s a winter wonderland along Cedar Street, on the Southside of Elmira with festive lights and holiday cheer.
For the last six years, Myles baker has been decorating his home with festive lights, and inflatable decorations.
He said he does it to bring festive joy to the neighborhood. It’s also a tribute to his family, past and present.
Baker also said that traffic tends to slow down, as cars pass his home to see the lights. He added it fills people with smiles, cheer and hope.
“We’ve had so many downfalls this year on this side of the river and across the country,” Baker said. “If we can bring a little bit of a smile to a kid’s face, that’s all that matters.”
Next door at the Barton household, they too have their own lights. The homeowner there said he’s been doing it since he was a kid. He says that they also get traffic stopping to get glimpses of their decorations.
Both said that NYSEG “likes” them this time of year.
