Not a rally, but a fundraiser. On Thursday night acting Chemung County Sheriff Bill Schrom held a fundraiser event at the Clemens Center in Elmira.
Schrom announced his candidacy for Chemung County Sheriff back in January. Schrom has spent 30 years in the Chemung County Sherrif’s office, working as an investigator, road patrol, supervisor and undersherriff.
Schrom says, if elected he looks forward to putting his spin on things.
“I think I have a very good understanding of what’s important to the public. There’s a lot of issues out there. You know with heroin and opioid and school safety. There’s the issue with the Safe Act and 2nd amendment right issue, so I feel I’m very well rounded and can speak to those issues very intelligently.”
Schrom is currently the only candidate in the race for sheriff. The sheriff looks to hold another fundraiser in late summer or early fall.
