A local animal rescue group is receiving help from the community after making a disturbing discovery on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

According to a Facebook post from Pawz & Purrz Animal Rescue, the organization found three cats dead and one ill Wednesday, after working for several months to neuter and treat a feral colony of cats in South Corning. The group believes the cats were poisoned.

In the post, Pawz & Purrz asked residents to help save the animals from an “agonizing death,” by taking the surviving cats into a home.

In an updated post, the group stated that it has received several offers for help, and is now working to arrange for the cats to be taken to their new homes.
