Bath residents arrested for food stamp fraud

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Bath residents on Monday for the misuse of food stamps.

Calenthia M. Beason, 32, and Roy E. Hudson, 50, both of Liberty Street, Bath, New York were arrested Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 for allegedly providing false information to the Steuben County Department of Social Services.

The Sheriff’s Office said both received improper food stamp benefits as a result of their false reporting.

Both Beason and Hudson were charged with two counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree (class E felonies) and one count of misuse use of food stamps, a class A misdemeanor.

Both were issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Village of Bath Court at a later date.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office.
