The bell ringing season which starts each November and runs through Christmas Eve is in full swing across the Twin Tiers.
According to the organization, volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises about $30 per hour – enough to provide a family with two bags of groceries, or shelter an individual for a night.
Salvation Army Captain, Raul Revera said his organization’s message to families this holiday is a simple one.
“Just enjoy the season be happy be joyful be blessed and be together,” said Revera.
Corning’s Mayor and numerous councilmen will be volunteering their time with the Salvation Army Bell ringing in the coming days.
Captain Revera said no donation is too small and every bit of change can help change another persons life.
He reminds community members that the effort exists all year long, not just during the holiday season.
