Pioneer Collection Services Call Center in Big Flats will be adding about 100 jobs thanks to some federal contracts.
That’s according to a news release Monday from U.S. Senator Charles Schumer who announced that Pioneer and another Upstate New York company have been awarded federal contracts to serve as private contractors helping the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) collect unpaid taxes.
Schumer said this is expected to bring a total of 600 jobs to the Big Flats company and operations in Wyoming and Monroe Counties.
According to the IRS, these private collection agencies will work on accounts where taxpayers owe money, but the IRS is no longer actively working their accounts.
Several factors contribute to the IRS assigning these accounts to private collection agencies, including older, overdue tax accounts or lack of resources preventing the IRS from working the cases.
