Bridge Replacement Project Begins Next Week On Route 249 in Tioga County

Work will begin Monday, Oct. 5, on a bridge replacement project with a bridge closure taking place on Wednesday, Oct. 7 on Route 249 in Chatham and Middlebury townships in Tioga County.

The existing structure will be replaced with a precast concrete box culvert.

The work area is 2.1 miles southeast of the intersection of Route 4011(Blair Creek Road) in Chatham Township and 3.1 miles west of Route 4017 in Middlebury Township.

All work on the $572,000 project will be performed during daylight hours. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the contractor.

There is a 21 day maximum allowed for the closure and work is expected to be completed around October 23, 2015.

A westbound detour will be in effect via Bee Hive Road to Glenn Road.

A truck detour will be in effect via Route 4027 (Cummings Creek Road) to Route 49 west to Route 249.
