More local art projects on traffic signal boxes slated to begin this year in Elmira, NY.
In the past few years local art displays have become more prominent in downtown Elmira, as local artists lend helping hands to disguise traffic signal boxes across the city.
Brent Stermer, Second District Councilman for Elmira said they have worked with an initial group of artists to create more traffic signal box art. He also said that in 2019, they have teamed together to bring 14 more traffic signal box art projects to the city of Elmira. The public art commission is also approving an additional 12 traffic signal boxes to add to the growing number of art projects in the city.
They plan to expand the art projects, now approving other artists to create public art with both traffic signal boxes and murals.
