Day Trippin’: Kopernik Observatory and Science Center

In a galaxy far, far, away we went Day Trippin’ to the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center. It is a time to explore, create, and study the stars.

“We are a place about science, technology, astronomy, geology. A great place to bring families and students,” said Roy Williams.

In a four classroom building the science center is out of this world.

“A lot of focus on the sciences and math in the school districts and this just gives them an extra added to what they would learn in school.” said Tammy Schrader.

A universe packed with telescopes, a weather center, and the kids favorite, space shuttles . There is something here for everyone to love and get creative with.

“Today we built these space shuttles out of clay,” said camper Tom D’Onofrio.

The science center encourages both parents and students to understand what the future holds for us. Although the stars and galaxy are a fascinating sight to study and explore these kids are aspiring to be something other than astronauts.

“I want to be a doctor or engineer!”

Kopernik is open to the public Friday evenings to enjoy the stars and everything else the science center has to offer.
