“We want changes” — That’s the message neighbors on Elmira’s west side made loud and clear Wednesday night.
Dozens attended a meeting at Westside United Methodist Church to discuss safety concerns following a summer that saw a spike in crime for the city.
Pastor Vincent Howell and Elmira Police Chief Michael Robertson were on hand and say this is a good step in the right direction.
Residents expressed concerns not only over safety but also cars speeding through the residential streets.
One neighbor says he’s happy with how the discussions went tonight.
Chief Robertson says he looks forward to more meetings like this one, and suggets residents form a neighborhood watch group.
