The Elmira College Red Cross Club hosted a community blood drive on Thursday.
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Just one donation of a pint of blood can save up to 3 lives. The Red Cross is always looking for volunteers to help grow the blood supply. The college holds this drive, not just to get blood, but to reach the community.
The drive took place at the Tiffs Lounge in the college campus center.18 News caught up with those working at the event to get their take on it.
“This is very important to us, we as a college have been trying for many many years to give back within the good graces of our community, said Director of campus engagement George Kuntz. “This is just another way we see, as a great outreach.”
