An Elmira Heights woman is arrested for Welfare Fraud on Wednesday. 

Police found 28-year-old Brittany A. Hamilton filed fraudulent paperwork with the Department of Social Services and as a result, Hamilton received $4,094.00 in SNAP benefits she was not eligible to receive. 

Hamilton is charged with Welfare Fraud in the 3rd Degree, Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, both class D felonies, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing, a class E felony. 

The investigation was conducted by the Chemung County Department of Social Services Special Investigation Unit and the Elmira Police Department.
