An Elmira Heights woman is found dead as the result of a gunshot wound on Friday.

42-year-old Tiffany S. Crossett was found dead when the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office responded to 342 Hardscrabble Rd. in the Town of Horseheads for a report of a gunshot victim.

Police said Crossett and two other people, including the property owner, had been shooting firearms in a wooded area behind the home.

Crosett was pronounced dead at the scene by the Chemung County Coroner’s Office.

Investigation shows that alcohol may have played a role. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
