The outgoing Mayor of Elmira is reflecting on her time serving in public office.
Susan Skidmore has spent nearly twenty years serving Elmira.
She spent the last four as Mayor.
Now as she prepares to say goodbye, Skidmore is thanking the public for trusting her to help the community.
She says the good times far outweigh the bad ones and she still plans on being a part of the city’s future.
“I love Elmira, I’ll always love Elmira. That love for Elmira brought me here. I’m not born here, raised here., went to school here. My children went to school here and still in the area. So for all the negativity that people have they need to spread their wings and see what the outside world is like. We’re not alone in the problems that we have here,” Skidmore says.
Newly elected Dan Mandell will take over office for Elmira mayor next month.
