Firearm Possession Charges Filed For Shooting Death of Elmira 12 Year Old

There’s new information on the shooting that killed a 12-year old on Elmira’s Southside July 30.

Elmira police say based on the findings of their investigation into the shooting on West Hudson Street, a 12 year old and 15 year old are charged with possession of a firearm.

They’ve been petitioned into family court and due to their ages their names will not be released.

Jeremiah Alford was killed in the shooting.

Police have previously said the person holding the gun believed it to be unloaded and that it went off accidentally.
