AVERAGE HIGH FOR FEBRUARY 19TH: 36°

AVERAGE LOW FOR FEBRUARY 19TH: 17°

TUESDAY SUNRISE: 6:58 AM

TUESDAY SUNSET: 5:45 PM

High pressure builds overhead into the region Tuesday, finally cutting off lake effect snow showers in the morning hours. Clouds gradually decrease into the afternoon with some February sunshine. Drier air continues into the evening. A northerly wind flow, anywhere from 5-10 mph will keep temperatures slightly colder today, with highs in the mid to upper-20s.

The weather pattern stays settled this evening and overnight as high pressure moves eastward. Clouds increase tonight ahead of the next low-pressure system that is appearing to move in from the southwest. Overnight lows drop to near 10 degrees once again with winds shifting out of the south, anywhere from 5-10 mph.

The weather pattern turns more active Wednesday and Thursday as the Twin Tiers will be between two areas of low-pressure. One system will be over the Ohio Valley moving into the Great Lakes and another, sliding up the east coast. A warm front will help lift the moisture into our region. Light precipitation in the form of snow develops Wednesday afternoon before turning into a mixture of snow, freezing rain, and possible sleet by mid-evening. Any precipitation seen overnight into Thursday morning will be rain as temperatures climb above freezing. High temperatures Wednesday reach the low-30s and staying in the low-30s into Thursday morning. A nose of warmer air will continue to slide in Thursday, allowing highs to reach the mid to upper-40s. Total snowfall amounts of 1-3″ is possible with higher amounts for areas in the northern tier and for areas of higher terrain. A light glazing of ice is possible on roads and sidewalks Wednesday.

High pressure takes hold by Friday leading to dry weather with some sunshine. Highs Friday near 40 degrees. Staying dry through most of Saturday before the next storm system moves in. Chance for a wintry mix late Saturday turns to rain by Sunday. Highs into the 40s both Saturday and Sunday.
