AVERAGE HIGH FOR FEBRUARY 4TH: 34°
AVERAGE LOW FOR FEBRUARY 4TH: 15°
MONDAY SUNRISE: 7:17 AM
MONDAY SUNSET: 5:26 PM
Starting off Monday morning with some sunshine along with some patchy fog early. Low-level clouds are keeping wake up temperatures much warmer than normal, in the 30s and 40s for areas in central New York. With a light southerly wind flow, and surface heating during the day, high temperatures today will rise well above normal for this time of year, to the low to mid-50s. Cloud cover increases through the afternoon hours and winds remain light, out of the south.
A cold front over the Great Lakes will approach the area this evening, bringing rain showers into early Tuesday. Minimal moisture is expected with this cold front. Skies remain mostly cloudy and temperatures stay very mild, in the lower-40s.
Rain lingers early Tuesday before tapering off by the afternoon hours. Some sunshine is expected for the second half of Tuesday with high temperatures in the mid to upper-40s. The next weather maker moves in from the Ohio Valley Wednesday, bringing a possible wintry mix of ice, rain, and light snow. Freezing rain is possible midday Wednesday into early Thursday morning. This may create a light glaze of ice on untreated roadways and sidewalks mainly for areas of higher terrain and areas east of the I-81 corridor. A cold front charges through Friday with strong cold air advection, and perhaps a brief period of snow showers. Snow showers will diminish going into the upcoming weekend.
