People will be ringing in the new year, maybe with a bottle of champagne, and the Greater Valley E.M.S. in Sayre wants to make sure you get home safe.
It’s holding its annual “Safe Ride Home” program. It aims to curb drinking-and-driving on a night when people will be out with friends and family, enjoying a few drinks.
The program’s coordinator said that for the last several years, the Sayre area has gone D.U.I. free. He added it’s in part because of the program.
“Our idea is you’re going to ride with us one way or another,” Fran Webb, the coordinator for the program, said. “Either you ride in one of the ambulances after a crash or you ride with us in the happy car and get home safe.”
The program serves a 10-mile radius from Sayre. All rides are free.
To request a pick-up after a night of partying or to reserve a ride in advance, you can call the program at (570) 888-6000 ext 300.
