Historical Hootch: Getting a taste of Elmira’s 19th century

Doug Oakes from Elmira Prison Camp group stops by 18 News Today to discuss Historical Hootch. It’s a fundraiser that raises money for the prison camp’s activities and projects. 

At the event, attendees have the chance to sample flavors of Elmira’s mid 19th century beverage history. They will also discuss how people drank alcohol during the 19th Century and learn more about what role Elmira played during the Civil War. 

Historical Hootch will be held at Bernie Murray’s, located at 500 S Main St, Elmira. The event starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 dollars. To buy tickets, you can visit the Elmira Prison Camp website here
