Horseheads Police are still searching for a man who forcibly entered a home on West Broad Street today.
At 9:52 a.m. Horseheads Police responded to a report of a burglary in process in the 900 block of West Broad Street.
Police say the subject forcibly entered the residence and was confronted by those inside the home.
The suspect displayed what appeared to be a hand gun.
The suspect then fled the area after stealing property from their residence.
The suspect is described to have medium or olive skin tone, a large build. The suspect was wearing black clothing, dark colored boots and a mask partially covering his face. The suspect fled in an easterly direction towards Westinghouse Road.
This incident led to a lock-out throughout the Horseheads School District as a precautionary measure.
The lock-out has since been lifted.
The Horseheads Police Department is being assisted by the New York State Police. The Elmira Heights Police Department also assisted at the scene. The investigation is continuing no suspects are in custody at this time.
