The Chemung County Legislature is looking to put a months-long controversy behind it, overriding the county executive’s veto, and amending the charter to allow the legislature to appoint its own attorney. The fight began in February after County Executive Chris Moss fired Bryan Maggs, Assistant County Attorney to the Legislature and Special Districts. 

Members of law enforcement across the state are refusing to abide by the so-called “mugshot ban,” which passed as part of the New York State Budget. The new law prevents the sharing of mugshots that do not have a specific law enforcement need. But several Sheriff’s offices across N.Y. are saying they will not change their current policies. 

Federal prosecutors in boston say actress Felicity Huffman will plead guilty for her role in a college bribery scam. The “Desperate Housewives actress was accused of paying $15,000 to facilitate cheating for her older daughter’s SAT test. She is one of 10 other defendants who have agreed to plead guilty. 

Nearly 100 new cases of the measles have been reported, jumping to 465 from just last week. This is the second greatest number of cases reported in the country since the disease was eliminated back in 2000.
