It’s the holidays and New York farmers are giving quite the gift.
Nine million pounds of food have been delivered to the food banks around the state.
This palette of milk delivered from Garelick Farms is just a small part of the donation to the regional food bank.
Food is donated from the “Harvest For All” program, a nationwide effort.
In New York State, the number of people relying on the food bank and donations from the New York State Farm Bureau has risen from 25% to 28%.
Overall, New York farmers donated nine million pounds of food. However, that number is down from 13 million last year but the President of the Farm Bureau says they’re not done yet.
