The gates of The Great New York State Fair open Thursday morning.
Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul is set to cut the ribbon at 9:30 AM to officially kick off the 2015 state fair at the fairgrounds in Syracuse.
Officials with the fair unveiled this year’s butter sculpture Wednesday morning. It’s titled, “Thanks for the Milk, Moo York.” This year’s sculpture is made from 800 pounds of unsalted butter from Batavia. The creamy masterpiece includes a dairy farmer, the carrier dome and the statue of liberty. It will be on display during the fair at the dairy building.
Here are some of the events that are in store for you if you’re headed to the Fair on Thursday, August 27th:
- Special day: Governor’s Day
- Special deals: $3 admission, and an opening day gift from the Fair
- Chevy Court shows: Everclear at 2:00 p.m.; Rick Springfield at 8 p.m.
The Great New York State Fair runs until September 7th.
