State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli announces New York State has two million people across the state hunting and fishing, the third most in the nation.

Consumer spending for those sports topped more than $5 billion in 2011 (the last year data was available).

Thanks to that spending, the state brought in an average of $45.3 million per year for the New York State Conservation Fund.

Around 2/3 of the two million people partaking in those outdoor sports fish exclusively, 28 percent hunt and fish, and nine percent only hunt.
