Do your kids like farm animals but you don’t live close enough to a farm? This weekend at the Chemung county fairgrounds, the farm comes to you. It’s a great chance to learn about, and be close to the animals.
“Tomorrow we’re doing Old McDonalds’ Farm, tomorrow from 10 to 3 it’s open for the schools, schools register and they come, and they just learn about agriculture in our community,” Says Nikole Watts, Stormwater Educator and organizer of the event, “we have ten different stations, we partner with the Farmer’s Museum, we have alpacas here, we’ll have dairy and beef cows, goats, chickens, so we kind of bring the farm to the kids.”
This particular event has been running for the last 8 to 10 years according to Watts and between Friday and Saturday, weather permitting, it is expected they will see between 800 and 1,000 visitors. Everyone is welcome from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday afternoon and admission is free for everyone.
