The village of Owego is preparing to celebrate the 38th annual Strawberry Festival on Friday and Saturday June 15 and 16.

The Festival will feature over 20 bands on four different stages, a parade on Saturday, roaming dinosaurs, jugglers, magicians, musicians, and a fireworks display on Friday evening, as well as a wine
and beer tasting tent.

This year, dinosaur performers from Dinosaurevents will be at the festival and will appear on a float in the parade on Saturday. Another new attraction that was added this year is the aerial artistry of acclaimed aerialist Robin Lynch.

The festival begins at 5 p.m. Friday with a block party. The Miss Strawberry Pageant takes place at 5, followed by the one-mile Strawberry Shortcake Fun Run for kids at 5:30. The Strawberry Shake 5K Walk/Run starts at 6:15, and includes runners and walkers of all ages.

The block party will also feature live music beginning at 5 p.m. on two stages. Performers include The Possibilities, Hot Dogs and Gin, Two Dollar Pistol, and headliner Nashville recording artists Stone Senate. Will Stafford, a juggler, will roam the festival and be performing as well. The evening ends with a firework display at Draper Park at 10.

The festival parade starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday on Main Street with Jeff Gural, owner of Tioga Down Casino and Resort, acting as Grand Marshall. Saturday events include a duck derby, a Kid’s Zone in Draper Park, and a wine and beer tasting tent.
