A 70-year-old New Albany man crashed his vehicle after reaching for a peanut butter cup and walked home without telling anyone about the accident.

Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda responded to a single-vehicle accident on Hatch Hill Road and found a 2015 Toyota RAV 4 that had crashed into a tree after 10:00 p.m. on Feb. 3, 2019.

The driver was interviewed at his home and told police that he was reaching for a peanut butter cup and lost control of the vehicle. He said, “he didn’t think it was a big deal that he didn’t call the police about the crash and just walked home.”

After the initial interview, the man called State Police and told them he tried to flag down people but no one would help him. He also told police he didn’t contact emergency personnel because he was hungry and needed to eat.

The driver was issued five citations, including careless driving.
