PennDOT in Bradford County will remember one of its own Friday.

It’s the 20th anniversary of the death of Leah Miller Rumsey, a PennDOT flagger who was struck and killed in Bradford County in 1996.

Speakers will honor Rumsey at 2 p.m. Friday at the PennDOT Bradford County Maintenance Office at 340 York Avenue in Towanda. There will be a wreath laying ceremony and the department’s workers memorial will be on display.

Since 1970, 86 PennDOT employees have been killed working on busy highways. The department reminds motorists to stay alert and obey posted speed limits when traveling through work zones.
