Pennsylvania inmates back to receiving original mail

Local News

Pennsylvania inmates are back to receiving their personal mail again instead of copies.

The Department of Corrections started giving inmates photocopies of mail after dozens of guards and employees were sickened last summer likely from drug-tainted mail.

Civil rights groups accused the department of violating attorney-client privilege.

As part of a settlement, the department said it has developed new security procedures that allow inmates to receive original mail again.
