CORNING, N.Y. (18 NEWS) Congressman Tom Reed’s manufacturing bill gets added to the government funding bill for 2015.

With the help of Senate partners, The Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation act was added to the compromise between the House and Senate spending package to fund government operations next year.  Reed said he’s excited about what the legislation means for American jobs and manufacturing.  He added it supports his campaign to ‘build it here and sell it there.’

“This is a major step towards the success of getting this bill not only signed into law but implementing it and getting those jobs of today and tomorrow, that are so critical as I’ve heard from so many people across the district, and across the state,” said Reed Wednesday during a special media call Wednesday morning.

The bill unanimously passed the House in September but had been held up in the Senate.  The legislation is $300 million for competitive applications through the public-private partnership to identify innovative products and services, as well as create a workforce development program with colleges and universities.  Reed mentioned there are already stakeholder who have expressed interest in bringing the advanced manufacturing centers to the 23rd district.

Senate action on the spending package is expected early next week.
