ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Wes Wilber, a young entrepreneur from Wellsburg, stopped by the 18 News Studio Thursday to talk about his business – Slammin Slimes by Wes. Wilber is just twelve-years-old but, has been making slime for the past three years.
His interest in slime started after watching some videos on how to make it. He had his mom take him to the store to get glue and that’s when he created his first batch of slime; which he said did not turn out the best.
This year, Wes attended the World Slime Convention that was held in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He entered his cloud slime in the cloud drizzle competition and won first prize.
“When I went up there I was a little bit nervous because there was a ton of people watching me,” Wilber said. “Then I was confident because I was proud of how I did with my drizzles. I went off of the stage and they were calling the winners and I was very nervous but when they called my name it really boosted my confidence with cloud slime and everything.”
So far Wes has created numerous slimes that he said are held in a special slime room. This room is air-conditioned and kept at the perfect temperature to ensure none of the slime goes bad.
“I definitely wouldn’t have been able to accomplish all of those awards and everything without my whole family,” Wes said. “Like my mom and my nana and my aunt.”
