A group of scientists from Israel claim they will likely develop a cure for cancer in the next year.
According to The Jerusalem Post, the new treatment called MuTaTo (multi-target toxin) is being developed by Accelerated Evolution Biotechnologies and is being spearheaded by CEO Dr. Ilan Morad.
MuTaTo will reportedly use a combination of cancer-targeting peptides and a toxin that will specifically kill cancer cells, the report says.
Darin Aridor, chairman of the company’s board, told the publication there will be “no or minimal side-effects at a much lower cost than most other treatments on the market.”
The treatment will eventually be personalized and a specific cocktail of drugs will be given to patients based on their type of cancer, Morad told the publication.
The treatment has not been tested in humans yet, but Aridor says it has shown success in mice trials and is nearing the stage of clinical trial.
