The Southern Tier Network is stirring up some competition in the area.
This network is an open access optical fiber network which covers over 260 miles already, and working towards another 200 miles in the future. Southern Tier Network was built to support the needs of public safety, improve broadband access, and increase the competition between providers in the area which will in return benefit both home and business owners.
“With competition comes better performance, better service, at a lower cost,” said CEO of Southern Tier Network Steve Manning. “That will be the benefit, and that is the benefit that our residents and businesses in our area they are seeing that.”
In addition to competition, another part of their goal is to retain existing businesses as well as give new businesses a reason for coming to the area.
