A special meeting has been called by the Chemung County Legislature’s Budget Committee on Monday, March 11, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. to vote on retaining an attorney should a dispute between Chemung County Executive Chris Moss go to the State Supreme Court.

Moss fired the Legislature’s attorney, Bryan Maggs, but the legislature says he does not have the power to do so. he also cites “conflicts of interest and ethical issues” in Magg’s conduct and decision making as causes for concern, specifically how county taxpayers have paid for legal work conducted by a firm of which Maggs is a partner.

The meeting will be open to the public and held in Room 510 of the Legislative Chambers located in the Hazlett Building (5th floor), 203 Lake Street in Elmira.
