Today’s Christmas Bazaar kicked off in the St. Joseph’s Hospital lobby at 9:30 this morning, and went until 4:30 this evening.
“Today’s event is wonderful,” said Co-Chair of Christmas Bazaar Bernadette Romeo. “It is an annual affair where we pull the community together and we just enjoy a great old fashion bazaar.”
Not only the lobby, but also much of the first floor was filled for today’s event. Activities included raffles and games. Homemade crafts and goodies were also sold, along with all sorts of decorations, and much more. Today’s event was made possible by donations and from the hard work of volunteers who enjoyed helping.
“I think it brings the community together,” said Auxiliary Volunteer Aida Williams. “The ladies that work in Auxiliary, they love to see each other every year and we build on relationships. And it’s for the community more or less, and for the hospital workers.”
A great amount of planning and preparation went into today’s event with a few goals in mind.
“I am hoping that everybody enjoys themselves when they come here to the Bazaar,” said Romeo. “We have a wonderful time. We have wonderful spirit here. Everybody contributes. It is all volunteer. I hope that those who come and visit enjoy themselves too and support the hospital.”
This is a yearly Christmas event. It is a great way to bring the community together but also help raise money for the hospital.
“The money has already been allocated to go to go to the Behavioral Science Unit, which is up on the first floor,” said Co-Chair of Christmas Bazaar Mary Jane Paternoster. “We made a pledge to that particular part of the hospital.”
Sense everything being sold was donated, this helps raise the final proceeds for the event.
