The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office will be holding its annual NYS Boater Safety Course on Saturday, June 9. 

The course will be held at the Steuben County Public Safety Building at 7007 Rumsey Street Extension in Bath from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

The course was designed as a comprehensive boating course, teaching the fundamentals of safe boating operation and was approved by the National Association of Boating Law Administrators. Upon successful completion of the 8-hour course, the attendee will receive a NYS Boater Safety Certificate.

Any individual born on or after May 1, 1996 wishing to operate any recreational vessel must have successfully completed an approved Boater Safety Course.

Any individual wishing to operate a Personal Watercraft, from ages 14 and up, must successfully complete an approved Boater Safety Course. 

Participants must bring proof of age.  The minimum age to attend is 10 years old.
